Zelenskyy suggests granting Ukrainian citizenship to foreign fighters
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has announced that foreign fighters who supported Ukraine during the Russian invasion in 2022 will be granted citizenship. This announcement was made on Ukraine's Day of Unity, which commemorates the unification of western and eastern Ukraine in 1919. In addition to foreign fighters, the new legislation also aims to allow ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants worldwide to obtain dual citizenship, excluding Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized that this opportunity is for those who have identified as Ukrainians and demonstrated their loyalty, regardless of their residence or current citizenship.
