Three men charged with giving drugs that killed rapper Mac Miller

The three men arrested during the investigation into rapper Mac Miller’s deadly overdose last year have finally been charged after providing tainted drugs that resulted in his overdose.


According to the grand jury, the men are accused of conspiracy and distributing cocaine and oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl.


Although Cameron Pettit, Stephen Walter, and Ryan Reavis were previously charged with drug-related offenses, the additional charges brought Wednesday’s also charge the men for giving drugs that led to Miller's death.


Miller, 26, was found dead in his Studio City home Sept. 7, 2018.


According to the Los Angeles County coroner, he died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl and cocaine.


What is Fentanyl?


Fentanyl is an opioid that has contributed to the opioid epidemic in the U.S.


Over 72,000 people died from overdoses in 2017 according to the CDC. And 49,000 linked to opioids.


If convicted, the men face a minimum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and the potential for life without parole.
