Consumers Union reports 22 American burger chains fall short in antibiotic beef policy
And advocacy division of Consumer Reports, Consumers Union, reported that 22 of America’s favorite burger restaurants are failing to disclose or to purchase antibiotic-free beef for their burgers. The report included a total of 25 of America’s most popular burger joints. Out of the 25, only 2 received an “A” rating because of their policy of strictly serving antibiotic-free beef to their customers: Shake Shack, and BurgerFi.
Within the restaurants who failed the quality report were McDonald’s, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Sonic Drive-In, In-N-Out, and other big chains.
Consuming beef treated with antibiotics can result dangerous as research has shown that people can develop antibiotic resistance and an infection can become fatal.
