Gang rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl leads to arrest of five

Srinagar, India (LEGEND) The savage rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl in the Indian has led to the arrest of five suspects.

According to Police statement, on August 24, the stepmother reportedly took the girl to the forest with the help of her 14-year-old son and other two accused men, Kaiser Ahmad(19) and Naseer Ahmad(28). All the men allegedly raped the child at the stepmother’s insistence.

After being raped, acid was poured on her body and the stepmother strangled her to death. She was also wounded in the head with an axed and had her eyes gouged out.

Police confirm that the attack was instigated by a family feud.

The girl was reported missing by her father on August 23rd and her body was discovered near the town of Uri on the 2nd of September, near her home in a forest.

At least one sexual assault occurs every 15 minutes according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
