Why UPS testing drone deliveries is brilliant

On Monday, UPS tested delivery by drone. The drone launched from the roof of one of its UPS vehicle and flew to its destination, dropped off the package and then returned to the vehicle.

According to the vice president of industrial engineering at UPS, this was an exploration into new technology.

One reason why drone deliveries may be a brilliant idea is that is could potentially cut down on the cost of deliveries in rural areas, helping the company save money and offer better pricing to their customers.

Time will tell if "drones UPS delivers" will be a thing of the future, but exploring the possibility sure makes a whole lot of sense.
